VEPRO PACS is a Web-based medical report image sharing application designed for healthcare professionals operating in a small to mid-sized practice. It allows healthcare professionals to share images across the practice be they working in a standalone, mini or clinic-wide healthcare network. VEPRO PACS – Picture, Archiving and Communication System – was launched in 2009 and is being used across 18 countries. The system is compatible with medical specialties and works best with practices specializing in radiology, cardiology, orthopedics, endoscopy, and surgery.

Its developers claim that clinicians can expect more from this VEPRO system than just managing and viewing images because it has also been designed to serve as a complete EMR system. The unique interface of this system allows users to access all necessary medical information about a patient with the touch of a single button.

This EMR solution is a standardized, open client/server system and it can be expanded modularly. It offers easy data entry procedures and assists medical practices in storing medical data in the best possible manner. The system also features a Health Portal from which patients can schedule appointments and view records. VEPRO PACS HL7 compliant, ICD-10 ready and ONC-ATCB certified. If you are a mid-sized medical practice looking for an EMR that is also a Picture, Archiving, and Communication System, then this might just be the system you need.

VEPRO PACS stores all patient information in the standard DICOM format and this feature allows it to be compatible with all medical specialties. This system ensures complete connectivity with imaging devices and it doesn’t matter whether the devices correspond to the DICOM standards or not. The system creates a standardized, homogenous archive and file structure by importing all data strictly according to the DICOM 3.0 in VEPRO PACS.

Pros: The strongest part of VEPRO PACS health software is the imaging workflow. Studies load quickly, and its easy to pull up previous examinations when comparing a patients current images with older ones. The viewer handles large studies well, including CT and MRI, and the cine functionality is useful when reviewing dynamic imaging. I also like that it supports remote access, which makes it practical for physicians who need to review studies away from the imaging workstation.

Cons: The reporting and document organization could also be more streamlined in a few areas.

Verdict: VEPRO is a solid PACS solution for organizations that need dependable image archiving and fast access to diagnostic studies. Its strengths are most apparent in image retrieval, prior study comparison, remote viewing, and handling larger imaging datasets.
