The EHR software vendor also plans on bringing new client-facing tools along with the recently-acquired technologies from Practice Fusion and McKesson to the show floor. Revealing details on the new Microsoft Azure-powered EHR Allscripts CEO Paul Black said, “Built from the ground up natively within the Microsoft Azure cloud, it functions like an app, not a traditional EHR, and gets technology out of the way of patient care. This is a bold imaginative new EHR, not simply a series of incremental advances on existing software.”
The new cloud-based EHR would address usability and efficiency issues by focusing on a user-centered design. It will also improve the consumer experience and make it more realistic and easy for patients and care teams to communicate.

Black said that the technology forwarded by Practice Fusion technology would round out its ambulatory clinical portfolio. It would be the last mile reach to rural and small medical practices treating patient populations that remain to be underserved.
