After detailed research and analysis of electronic medical records (EMR) system, we have concluded that AdvancedMD EMR Software is the most recommended system overall. We have picked AdvancedMD from short listed EMR systems. To learn more about more comprehensive list of EMR solutions, see EMRFInders all vendors’ list.
Electronic medical records (EMR) are often complicated and can become cumbersome sometimes, they generally come with a long learning curve, not the right amount of training and an implementation process that can easily get you impatient, exhausted and off track. So it is essential to work with a company that will support your practice each step of the way, through implementation, training and subscription life. They also need to remain adaptive to the needs and workflow of your practice. Whether that means supporting custom templates or building additional integrations, a solid EMR vendor is always willing to go the extra mile for their clients.
AdvancedMD, in the result of this research is ready to go an extra mile for you, meeting all the above mentioned criteria. They offer most flexible implementation packages that can be tailored to fit any budget or level of need.
Being very effective and reliable Electronic Health Record (EHR) system AdvancedMD can scale with any growing practice and is flexible enough to adapt to any provider’s workflow. Extensive implementation and ongoing training ensures that staff will always have the support and knowledge they need, to use the system to its full potential.
AdvancedMD Pricing and implementation:
AdvancedMD maintains relationships with more than 700 billers and offers multiple pricing models. That being said, it doesn’t mean that it is the cheapest option on the market, it means that they value a comprehensive EHR and regularly offers promotions and discounts. This company essentially offers two pricing models, and practices can select whichever model is more advantageous for them.
There is the typical “per provider, per month model”, which is the most common pricing model EHR systems utilize. There is also an encounter-based program, in which practices only “pay per encounter”. This model is likely more affordable for small practices, but it’s important to note that the encounter-based program does include monthly minimums.
A fully integrated system from AdvancedMD, which does not offer a standalone EHR software, prices start above $720 per provider per month. However, when we contacted them our practice was offered a discount by the sales representative we spoke to voluntarily to our surprise, which would reduce monthly per provider cost by 14%. Outsourcing module to a third-party would also change the cost. For the encounter-based program, AdvancedMD’s EHR and practice management system for practices that encountered at least 229 patients per month costs as little as $500 monthly, total, irrespective of the number of providers.
AdvancedMD includes an integrated practice management system with flexible pricing models although, it costs more than some of the other solutions in our list. However, some features providers might find useful to represent an additional cost. These add-ons include:
Advanced Patient Pro (patient portal, appointment reminders, etc.) – $150 per provider
Advanced Insight and Benchmarking – $79 per provider
Telemedicine – $30 per provider, plus $5 per encounter OR $150 per provider unlimited
Integrated Fax – $29 per provider for 2,000 pages per month
Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) – $25 per provider
Reputation Management – $49 per provider
AdvancedMD Implementation and Training:
AdvancedMD allows practices to select one of three implementation tiers depending on budget and needs as implementation packages represent an additional cost on top of the encounter-based costs. Those tiers are as follows:
Tier 1 – “Limited” ($1,995): This option is intended for a small practice. Tier 1 includes application configuration and two hours of product training with experienced staff members that will be content relying heavily on webinar training.
Tier 2 – “Standard” ($,2995): The second tier builds on the first by adding two additional hours of training and shifting project management and configuration review responsibilities to the company. It also includes an integrated training tracker, comprehensive video training library, help materials, an onboarding webinar series, an implementation phone line, a partner interface collaboration, post-utilization follow up, and a dedicated implementation consultant.
Tier 3 – “Comprehensive” ($3,995): This comprehensive package adds full application configuration and review, as well as 12 hours of product training. This is recommended for practices implementing a fully custom system that need time to learn how to navigate the software and integrate it into their daily operations.
AdvancedMD has strong integrations with institutions and labs like Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp. Since, some pharmacies and hospitals are not automatically able to communicate with your AdvancedMD EHR, the company extends APIs to do so during the implementation process with the general consent of all the partiess. AdvancedMD is willing to integrate their system to communicate with others not automatically supported.
For AdvancedMD, estimated implementation and training time is between eight and 11 weeks from the time a practice’s insurance credentials are received, so it’s very important to allot the appropriate amount of time before the go-live date to ensure the system is fully functional and your staff are adequately trained to avoid any problems in the future.
AdvancedMD Customer Service:
AdvancedMD’s support is included in the price and includes a 24/7 help desk, which set AdvancedMD’s customer service department apart from many other EHR vendors. Support is in-house and ongoing after the implementation, training.
To test all these claims, we called the support. In our experience, customer service was very responsive, knowledgeable, and engaged. No long delays or waiting while transferring the call. Representative was well trained and able to easily answer all of our questions and was happy to take the time to speak with us about AdvancedMD, even though we made it clear we were in a very early stage of the process and would not be making any purchasing decisions. We were given full pricing materials and implementation package information within two hours of the call.
AdvancedMD Limitations:
The biggest limitation is that it is a bit pricey option that doesn’t include some features that come bundled with other EHRs. However, it is a fully integrated and comprehensive product that is largely reliable and it does deliver a great deal of value for your investment. So, we highly recommend AdvancedMD EMR Software, the all-rounder option that will serve you well.
