Patients records to be accessed through iOS devices by a network of half million physicians and clinicians.
Doctor-patient communication is vital for effective and successful healthcare initiatives. A healthy communication between the receiving and giving ends of healthcare can really improve the overall health of the country. This is precisely why, commendable initiatives are being taken to improve doctor-patient communication.
One such initiative comes as Epic’s Haiku app integrates with Doximity Dialer to boost patient-doctor communication. Per reports, Epic System’s Haiku app designed for iPhones is offering Doximity members a unique one-touch dialing of patients feature through Epic’s mobile EHR.
This interesting integration between Haiku and Doximity Dialer also enables doctors to access patient medical records online and easily communicate with their patients from their smart phones without even exposing their personal contact numbers.
The Haiku app allows physicians to tap the patient’s contact information available in the medical charts which timely opens the Doximity Dialer app and initiates a phone call with the patient.
Haiku app’s description on the AppStore states, “Haiku provides authorized clinical users of Epic’s EHR with secure access to clinic schedules, hospital patient lists, health summaries, test results and notes. The app supports dictation and access to “In Basket,” a secure messaging system. Haiku works on both the iPhone and iPod touch.”
In a statement, Doximity Founder and CEO Jeff Tangney said, “Our goal is to connect physicians to make them more productive and successful.” Tangney believes that the combination of their dialer and the Haiku app can really make doctor-patient communication efficient and easier.
UC San Diego Health Ambulatory Care Chief Medical Information Officer MD Marlene May Millen sees the collaboration of the Haiku app and Doximity dialer as a quality way of saving physician’s time and making patient communication way easier.
Interestingly, Epic’s Haiku mobile app’s latest version already comes complete with an integrated Doximity Dialer. Also any verified physician can easily download Doximity Dialer from Google Play or the iTunes Store. Epic, in collaboration with Apple have also tested the Haiku app at Stanford Hospital & Clinics in Palo Alto, California in 2009.
